Accessing Our School
If you are new to the area, accessing our school can be confusing. The "front" entrance, facing Ottawa Street, is not our official entrance. The official entrance to the main office is at the end of Harriet Street. The Main Office doors are equipped with a doorbell, available during regular office hours. Visitors are to access the school at this door only. All exterior school doors will be locked during instructional time.
Parking
Parking at Walter Zadow is extremely limited. There is no parking for families in our parking lot during mornig entry (7:55 - 8:15am) and afternoon pick-up (2:35 - 2:50pm). Families are encouraged to park on one of the side streets and walk to meet their child(ren). There are three crossing guards providing safe crossing on Ottawa Street during school pick up and drop off times.
Picking Up & Droping Off
To ensure safe arrival to school, please do not drop off your student(s) until the school yard gate opens and supervision begins, at 7:55 am. The Ottawa Street gates will close at 8:15 am. Students who arrive after 8:15 am are to ring the doorbell at the Main Office doors to gain entry. School dismissal is at 2:35 pm. All non-bussing students will be released from exits on Ottawa Street. Release areas are designated by grade (Photos above).
Student absences or late arrivals must be communicated before 9:00am. Early departures or changes to a student's end of day routiene must be communicated before 12:00 noon.
